Social Power Institute

Ethics

This institute is not ethically neutral. On the topic of how Social Power should be distributed within society or any organization within society, we believe that the more equally distributed it is the better. There may be trade-offs sometimes between more equally distributed power and effectiveness of differing forms of social organization to meet society’s needs.

Some may say that a hierarchical organizational structure with very high levels of specialization is more efficient and effective and providing for the needs of members inside and outside of that organization. That structure may be losing efficiencies by ignoring input from members further down the hierarchy and by skewing the needs that are being met so that they match up with what the people at the top of the hierarchy want and the expense of others.
